PSAV Leadership Team
President and Chief Executive Officer
PSAV's ownership appointed J. Michael McIlwain as the company's Chief Executive Officer in May 2011. He joined PSAV in August of 2009 as its chief financial officer, bringing with him more than 20 years of financial and managerial experience.
A native of the South, McIlwain was born and raised in Florida, earned his B.S. in Accounting from Mississippi State University and his MBA in Tax from the University of Alabama. McIlwain was recently named one of the top 100 alumni from MSU as part of their 100 for 100 celebration. He was also named to Successful Meetings Magazine's 2016 25 Most Influential People in the Meetings Industry list. A Certified Public Accountant, he began his career as an accountant with KPMG and climbed through the ranks, eventually serving as CFO of Motor Coach Industries prior to joining PSAV.
McIlwain maintains a commitment to open collaboration among PSAV's internal stakeholders to meet the company's objectives for responsible management and financial strength. In addition, McIlwain is an active member of MPI and PCMA, and holds a board position with AH&LA.
Seemingly committed to all things black and yellow, he is also a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer, Michael Leone leads PSAV’s global operations, spanning the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico, Europe and the Middle East. Leone brings over 25 years of leadership experience to his role. Prior to joining PSAV in January 2017, he worked as Chief Commercial Officer at KeHE, a $4.5B natural food distributor, and led sales, business development, marketing, supply chain and owned brands.
Prior to KeHE, he spent 13 years with Aramark, starting as VP of Operations for their Conference Center Management division and during his tenure progressed through numerous leadership roles, was part of their Executive Leadership Council, and ended his tenure as President, Aramark Healthcare.
Leone brings hospitality industry knowledge to his role having worked as Vice President, General Manager of Oxford Development, where he oversaw purchasing and logistics for a hotel, food and beverage, and convention operation.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA.
Chief Financial Officer
Ben Erwin was appointed as Chief Financial Officer for PSAV in February of 2015. He is responsible for global accounting, tax, corporate finance, financial planning and analysis and treasury. Erwin has a proven track record of developing global corporate strategies, leading finance organizations, and building high-performance teams.
Prior to joining PSAV, Erwin served as Chief Financial Officer of TestAmerica Laboratories, where he led all accounting, finance, treasury, information technology and legal functions. Prior to 2011, he served as SVP Corporate Development of Cornell Companies, where he managed corporate strategy, financial planning and analysis, public market capital transactions and investor relations. He has also held various positions at Enron Corp and Trilogy Software. Erwin graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.A. in Economics and a B.A. in Political Science.
Chief Strategic Sales and Innovation Officer
With more than 20 years of event technology and hospitality experience, nearly half that time with PSAV, Sky Cunningham brings a wealth of insight and expertise to his role as Chief Strategic Sales and Innovation Officer.
Cunningham began his career in the audiovisual industry as CFO and President of Bauer Audio Visual before PSAV acquired that company in 1997. At PSAV, he has managed staging, hotel and rental operations where PSAV operates on-site services at more than 1,500 facilities. He has five years of related hospitality experience as the vice president of finance for Pratt Hotel Corporation. Cunningham has a B.S. in Finance and an MBA in Finance from Indiana University.
Chief Marketing Officer
Carla Carry joined PSAV in January 2017 as Chief Marketing Officer and is responsible for global brand strategy, marketing, communications and customer insights.
She is a results-oriented marketing and P&L leader with a passion for building brands, identifying market opportunities and driving innovation.
For 15 years Carry grew iconic brands in consumer packaged goods from Pillsbury’s baked goods to Wrigley’s gum.
Prior to joining PSAV, she held leadership roles with DeVry Education Group, a $2B global provider of educational services. As Vice President of Marketing and Product Management for Becker Professional Education, part of DeVry Group, she developed the global brand strategy and repositioned Becker from an exam prep provider to a global leader in professional education. Most recently Carry was General Manager at DeVry University with responsibility for $450 million in revenue.
Carry earned an MBA from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Georgetown University.
Chief Information Officer and SVP
Cathie Kozik is a seasoned leader who believes that success comes from delivering strong results with a great team. She has spent her career building high-performing teams in information technology, customer service, and engineering in the telecommunications, public safety and transportation industries. Kozik joined PSAV in January of 2015 as Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Senior Vice President. As CIO, she is responsible for ensuring that PSAV has the information solutions needed to improve PSAV’s effectiveness and efficiency in delivering services to our customers around the globe.
Prior to PSAV, Kozik held CIO positions at Hub Group, Motorola, and Tellabs, Inc. In addition she has led Customer Service and Development leadership teams in the Telecommunications industry.
Kozik graduated from Purdue in 1982 with her Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, where she has been named a Distinguished Engineering Alumna. She later graduated from University of Chicago in 1987 with her Master of Business Administration. Kozik serves on the board of Northwestern Memorial Health Care (NMHC), one of the nation’s top providers of health care.
Chief Human Resource Officer
Charlie Young is responsible for all areas of Human Resources, including recruiting; compensation, benefits and payroll; learning and organizational development; and HR operations.
Young brings a wealth of operational and HR experience to the PSAV family. He has over 20 years of progressive human resources experience, and for the past eight years, served as CHRO of hhgregg. Prior to hhgregg, he held various leadership roles in his 21 years at Sears, working as a store general manager before going into HR. He served as vice president, HR for Sears Retail and vice president, HR Retail Store Operations and Supply Chain before joining hhgregg.
Young was born in Philadelphia and holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Gettysburg College.
Chief Legal Officer
Whit Markowitz joined PSAV in July 2000 and is its chief legal officer, responsible for the legal, compliance, and risk management departments. His areas of emphasis include corporate governance, commercial transactions, corporate finance, labor and employment law.
He has worked in the hospitality and audiovisual sectors since the mid-1990s, including serving as the assistant general counsel for KSL Resorts before joining PSAV. Prior to KSL Resorts, he worked in both the public and private sectors, where he practiced general corporate law, real estate, and land use planning.
Markowitz is a member of the California and Colorado State Bar Associations, with a B.S. in Business and Finance from the University of Southern California and a J.D. from the University of Denver.
